Wil Weldon

Director of Catering, Myrtle Beach Marriott Resort & Spa at Grande Dunes

Board Chairman – Gene’s Dream Foundation

Favorite Core Value: Perseverance

“When I was 23 years old, I was diagnosed with cancer.  About one year in to my treatments, I was given six months to live and was faced with a choice. Either I can fight or I can give up. My father was right there with me, and told me he would support whatever decision I made but that he wanted me to fight and he would be with me the entire time. He persevered with me and I am still here today. The willingness to fight or persevere will come along at different stages of life. I hope you choose to persevere.”

 On Mentoring:

“My father has always been my mentor. He put a golf club in my hands at the age of 3 and never pushed golf or any other sport on me. He guided me throughout all stages of my life until the very end. He is my definition of a mentor, someone who helps shape you and guide you through life.  I hope to pass on this legacy to my own daughter and all the junior golfers in the area.”
