The Mentor Cup and The Dream Challenge directly benefit Gene’s Dream Foundation and other area organizations that promote positive development of our youth through various means.
Gene’s Dream Foundation was created in honor of the late Gene Weldon, a 40-year PGA Professional in the Carolinas PGA Section. Weldon was instrumental in the development and support of junior golf programs in the Myrtle Beach area. He was a mentor to many, including Golf Channel’s Kelly Tilghman and Charlie Rymer.
Through the guidance and efforts of Tilghman, Rymer, Gene’s son Wil, his best friend Joe White and the rest of this dedicated team, Gene’s Dream Foundation keeps Gene’s dream alive by continuing to provide much needed support to programs that expose children to the core values the game of golf has to offer. The goal is to provide college grants and positive mentors to area children to give them the chance they deserve to succeed and make strong contributions to their respective communities.
